Notes from meeting Jan 20 2004 7:30 pm
Anne Guida greeted everyone and apologized for the delay in sending out the
announcement for this meeting.
Two situations were discussed. On
Petersville Road, the owner of a house that was purchased in December was recently fined for building cubicles and breaking
up rooms in order to create many separate living spaces. Construction on this house was stopped. City officials from
the building department promised to keep on top of the situation.
John Caldararo from the building department will come to our next meeting. We can ask
him for more details on the situation at the meeting.
A house on Lincoln Street was recently
sold. After the sale, there were complaints of illegal construction. The building department did go in there and issued
the owner a court appearance ticket.
We all know the financial hardship of owning a house
but breaking the law by creating illegal multi-family dwellings will not be tolerated anymore.
Everyone agreed that these housing situations create too much noise, traffic,
garbage, lack of parking, and are dangerous to the occupants.
Keep your eyes and ears open for this activity and report it to the East End
Civic Association or the building department.
Our guests for the next meeting will be Bob Young who is building the townhouses
at the top of Petersville Rd. and John Caldararo from the New Rochelle building department.
Detective Andolina was there to listen to other grievances brought up including:
· The
double-parking at Joeys Deli, including the cars and trucks that block the alleyway. (Is that a public street?)
- Early AM garbage trucks. No
garbage trucks - city or private are allowed to operate before 7AM according to Detective Andolina.
- Garbage and grease dumping
by Joeys and the restaurants into the alley behind them.
- Snow removal. Individual sidewalks
are to be cleared within 24 hours and allow enough room for 2 people to pass each other.
- New Roc Dodge parking new
cars on city streets. (They are moving)
- The auto repair shop (next
to Dodge) has already been summoned 17 times for illegal activities.
- Is Toyota City building a
tower on the current site?
- Commercial vehicles are not
allowed to park on city streets (unless they are there doing business). Cars with commercial plates are only allowed to remain
on a premise when they are doing work at the residence. That means people who own commercial vehicles are not allowed
to park them in their driveways or on the streets day after day. They are allowed to be parked in enclosed
garages.
THANK YOU DETECTIVE ANDOLINA FOR YOUR INTEREST!
