Minutes for February 28, 2007

 

Meeting called to order @ 7:35 pm

 

Your are asked to join one of the committees to help them continue their work.  The committees are traffic, housing, parks, development, and Stephenson Islands.

 

The Mayor wants to attend our next meeting, also some of the councilpersons.  Topic will be the vision for waterfront development.

 

Three new housing code inspectors have been hired.  We hope it makes a difference.

 

The PACT officer will be at our April meeting.

 

Frank Pasquale spoke about the upcoming School Board Elections.  He is running for one of the three available seats.  His concerns are children going to schools from illegal housing, fight under funded mandates, open meeting school board meetings, and taxes.

 

Jim Maisano, our County Legislator, spoke about Echo Bay Development.

A committee was formed to work with Jim on this.  The members are Todd Ziogas, John D’Alois, Howard Baumen, Frank Capasso.

            Thankful for our support

            Echo Bay will have a great impact on our neighborhood.

            Get in early before public hearings to influence plan

            Plan is too dense

            Limit housing, include retail, open space

            Fate of the Armory

            Work with other neighborhood associations

            City in process to build another school.
