Minutes, East End Civic Association, Wednesday, October 25, 2006

Anne Guida presented the architect drawings for Stephenson Park.  Copies were available for comment, to be collected at the end of the meeting.   George Lattimer obtained $2,000 for the park.

Peggy Meli presented an update on the city news from Noam Bramson.  Most of the information is available online @ bramson@optonline.net.  The topics were:

Study by the Council of downtown parking.  It will be increased.

            Traffic Calming program

Con Ed performance review @ city hall.

            New restaurants in the downtown.

New Rochelle is featured in the October issue of Westchester Magazine.

Voter information can be obtained @ www.smartvoter.org.

A presentation was made by John D'Alois on the waterfront development.  He attended a public meeting for us.  He passed around copies of the various proposals.  Be involved; follow it to see how it affects the neighborhood.  The developer will be chosen in November and a letter of intent must be presented in January.  The information is available @ NewRochelleNY.com.

Bob Young the developer of Huguenot Hills presented.  He asked for our thoughts on the completed project.  It was positive.  Two stores are slated to open.  Super Suppers, which will sell prepared but uncooked take home meals.   Cafe Steam from Pelham will be on the corner,  with outdoor seating . There is 3,000-sq. ft. left to lease.  Snow removal and traffic concerns were addressed.

The city has money to develop the island at Huguenot Hills.

Discussion over the frustration of residents on Lincoln St. in regards to illegal housing and parking.  City officials came and were not helpful.  They were actually an embarrassment.

Bob Young suggested that we e-mail the city manager, the mayor and the council members as often as possible.  Complain loud and often.

Finally, will someone step up to the plate.  We want a new President, vice-President and other officers.  We have six meetings a year.  The current leadership will help.

                                                                        Respectfully submitted,

                                                                        Frank Capasso
