The East End Civic Associations's Meet & Greet was a huge success.
Neighbors with a trade, such as Real Estate, Inspectors, Appraisers, etc.. came to our meeting along with Neighborhood
Vendors.
There was food and fun. Raffles from many of our Neighborhood Stores
were raffled off.

MAY 2006 Meeting
Mayor Noam Bramson & Barry Fertel were
our Guest Speakers.
The Mayor started the meeting by reflecting on some things that have negatively
impacted downtown New Rochelle.
The Mall - GONE.
Weyman Avenue's Incinerator
Rubbish next to the Train Station......
There are many NEW DEVELOPMENTS under way NOW
that will positively impact New Rochelle:
New Roc City
Entertainment
Some New Retail
New Train Depot
Home Depot/Costco...etc
This all sets the stage for what is coming NEXT!
2.9 Million Square Feet of New Construction.. which
means $30 Million in Tax Revenue to NR
We are making Real Progress with our Waterfront!
9 MILE SHORELINE..How can we forget that!
The Echo Bay Development which will impact our East
End is going to get started hopefully sooner than later...
1. Request for Proposals.
2. Public Presentations from 4 Finalists which happened in June.
3. Pick 1 Developer.
4. Retail....Housing.....Waterfront Promenade. (Hudson Park to 5 Islands).
5. Creative Policy Making to "Improve the Quality of Life".
BUT......
Main Street, City Budget, Obstacles (new home owners, $) exist...
Mayor Noam Bramson wants to Elevate...... Needs infrastructure, traffic management,
and wants to restore the historic integrity in DOWNTOWN NEW ROCHELLE....
There are 6 NEW TOWERS being built DOWNTOWN
We need to improve our budgetery priorities... "We spend almost nothing
on environmental issues", says Noam...
He wants to try to bring North, East, West, South together.....
NEXT... Barry Fertel spoke about how he is our new Councilman.
In 1991 he was elected to the Board of Education. He now represents the East Side of Lispenard--->
He spoke about how the City Yard is being relocated to Beechwood Avenue
off of Webster Avenue. We are in need of Environmental Remediation!
There has been decades of "talking about it"
NOW IT IS TIME TO DO SOMETHING
THEY BOTH THEN SPOKE ABOUT THE DIFFERENT PROJECTS AND HOW THEY WILL IMPACT THE
DOWNTOWN AREA....
ALL WE CAN HOPE FOR IS A LUCRATIVE AND FUCTIONAL" DOWNTOWN...
and a Waterfront that can not be compared to!
New Rochelle is a diamond in the rough and was just voted One of
the Six "TOWNS ABOUT TO BOOM"
We are a 34 minute commute to the city and have
9.3 miles of shoreline, public beaches, reasonable taxes and a diverse
population.
