* Members voted on whether or not to raise the annual Association Dues from $10.00 to $15.00. The vote passed and new
dues will take effect in January 2006. Money that is raised from dues are largely allocated to the beautification of the neighborhood.
* We will putting the Stephenson Blvd. planters to rest for the winter on Saturday, November 12th. Volunteers are needed
and welcomed to come out at 10 am to give us a hand. This process should not take more than an hour. If anyone can store one
or more of the planters in their yards, please contact Anne @ 576-3745.
* December 3rd. will be our Second Annual Horse Drawn Carriage Ride. We will be soliciting local merchants for their
donations and support in making this a successful event. Neighbors in the area of this ride (Sherman, Lispenard, Petersville
and Lynette) are asked to decorate early, so the riders can see their beutiful holiday displays.
* Members reiterated their concern regarding the increasing truck traffic on Stephenson Blvd. Speeding has become a significent
issue along with the growing number of trucks passing through the neighborhood. A suggestion was made to have a police officer
situated on Stephenson Blvd. to issue summons. Also discussed was the possibility of putting lights in the park to deter vandalism
and loitering after dark. We will invite Office Spinner to attend the next meeting for his input. We will ask for
a traffic officer to attend as well.
* Assemblyman George Latimer attended the meeting. He gave an exceptionally informative account on the 2005 Legislative
Session. The highlights were:
Passed first time ON-TIME budget in over 20 years.
Passed Legislative/Executive REFORM MEASURES.
Funding levels established for EDUCATION, ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION, TRANSPORTATION
priorities et al.
Tougher laws on DRUG MANUFACTURING, DRUNK DRIVING, SEX OFFENDERS, PROSITUTION.
Reduce counnty costs for administration of MEDICAID Programs.
No increase in STATE INCOME TAX OR SALES TAX.
As our assembly representative, he is dedicated to ensuring the quality of life and welcomes all questions or concerns
that are at the state level i.e. issues regarding DMV, business owners, NYS Thruway, Metro North, water quality.
