March 2005 Minutes

Minutes for March 30, 2005

Our new PACT Officer Glen Spinner was able to attend this meeting to introduce himself. He announced plans for NRPD's Citizen Police Academy Program, which will begin on April 19th thru June 16th. Every Tuesday evening between 6:30pm - 9:00 pm. Participation was encouraged. The objective of the program is to increase interaction between the NRPD and the community and to foster a citizen - police partnership to combat crime and develop a safer community. Anyone interested can contact Lt. Cosmo Costa @ 654-2230. NRPD is also offering a "Ride-along-program" which will allow citizens to gain a first hand view of a police officer's job by spending 4 hours riding along in a patrol car. Contact is same as above. You are encouraged to contact Officer Spinner @ 654- 2300 to report any reoccuring problems; i.e. parking violations, teenage loitering or drinking on street corners. You may also call anonymously @ 632-cops. (If the police dispatcher is ever rude to you when you file a complaint, get the name of the dispatcher.)
Barbara Davis, New Rochelle's city historian and the Library's community relations coordinator presented a phenomanel slide presentation on the history of New Rochelle. Our association truly enjoyed her wonderful and informative program and we would love to have her back again next year.
Thank you Ms.Davis!
