Guest Speaker - William Zimmerman
( Director of Parks and Recreation )
Discussion overwhelmingly directed at Stephenson Park. Issues discussed involved recapturing facilities for
neighborhood residents. General concerns included, first and foremost, safety guidelines in and around the perimeter of the
park. Eliminate dangerous conditions, post signs visible to public stating restrictions within park. Rally to New Rochelle
Police Department for enforcement of such restrictions. Strides for beautification and clean up of park were propsed. Mr.
Zimmerman volunteered to help form a " park committe " to address most important issues, ideas for operational expenses and
possibly even a " clean up day " at the park. Attitudinal changes are key to physical aspects of the park. Sign up sheet for
volunteers for park committe was established at the end of the meeting. Don't forget budget meetings at city hall are scheduled
for December, here there will be opportunities to speak about initiatives for park revisions.
